Dr Kitipong PROMWONG

Dr. Kitipong Promwong is the President of Office of National Higher Education Science Research and Innovation Policy Council (NXPO). He is also appointed by the Prime Minister to oversee formulation of National Policy initiatives on Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation which directly reports to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.

He has been assigned by the Thai Government – through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation – to draft national policy proposals including, for instance, the White Paper on National Reform on Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation, Intellectual Property and Research Commercialization Promotion Act, and fiscal and financial incentive packages to promote research, development and innovation of the private firms, entrepreneurs and startups in Thailand and Bio-Circular-Green Economy (BCG) Policy.

Dr. Kitipong Promwong has played important role in formulating strategic programs and initiatives related to science, technology and innovation development in Thailand. Examples include regional science parks development, establishment of Food Innopolis (Food Innovation City), establishment of Company R&D Center Facilitation Centers, setting up Talent Mobility Program (mobilizing scientists and technologists from public sector to work in private companies in order to help strengthen the companies’ competitiveness), development of science, technology, and engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce, promotion of work-integrated learning (WiL) education and the BCG in Action Initiative.
